Have you ever heard the saying, "Eat your liquids and drink your solids?" It's definitely a great reminder when looking to support our digestion and optimize the nutrients from our foods for healthy glowing beauty! I really like putting my smoothies in a bowl because it reminds me to chew instead of just drinking up all the deliciousness. The chewing motion helps us produce enzymes in our mouth, amylase, and lipase. They are responsible for assisting in breaking down fats and carbs into a more digestible form.

Guess what that does? It makes it easier for our digestion to absorb nutrients and convert food into fuel. We are what we eat but we are also what we digest. It's so important to support our digestion so we can maximize the nutrients from our food. The easier we make it for our digestion the better chance we have at absorbing nutrients that will support beautiful hair, skin, and nails. We don't want those nutrients to go to waster, do we? No way!

A good rule of thumb when creating smoothie bowls is to include:

1.) More veggies than fruits. Blood sugar balance is key for healthy skin.

2.) Protein

3.) Healthy fats

4.) Ceylon cinnamon. Supports blood sugar balance & is packed full of skin loving antioxidants.

And don't forget to chew! Your digestion and skin will thank you!

Beauty Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1/2 cup raw or cooked cauliflower

  • I prefer my steamed, it's easier on the digestion than eating it raw.

  • 1/2 red bell pepper

  • 1-2 scoops of protein powder or collagen powder.

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (Ceylon cinnamon)

  • Handful of spinach

  • 1 tsp coconut oil

  • 1/4 cup almond or coconut milk

Directions

1.) Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.

2.) Add to a bowl and have fun decorating your gorgeous smoothie bowl with your favorite healthy toppings

3.) Enjoy

I hope you enjoy this smoothie and it encourages you to focus on nourishing your beauty from the inside out.
