Exfoliate your Beautiful Face
Spring is all about extra glowy skin. After exposure to cold winds, rain, and heaters during the winter, our skin can appear dry and dull. It’s time to slough off those dead skin cells and let your natural beauty shine through.
Regular exfoliation helps skincare products absorb more efficiently, provides a smoother makeup application, and encourages a radiant appearance. Use a gentle exfoliant once or twice a week, depending on your skin type.
Types of Exfoliation
A skincare product with ingredients that aid in cell turnover and break down the bonds of dead skin cells without manually scrubbing the skin. Generally, chemical exfoliants tend to be more gentle and best suited for sensitive skin. Common ingredients include Alpha and Beta hydroxy acids, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and fruit enzymes.
Requires a scrubbing action with products such as facial scrubs, washcloths, muslin cloth, brushes, etc. With these types of exfoliants, it is best to be gentle and avoid aggressively scrubbing the skin, which can cause irritation and break down collagen. Avoid physical exfoliants with harsh ingredients such as sugar and ground-up kernels and shells, as they can cause micro-tears in the skin. Over exfoliating can damage the skin barrier and lead to irritation and acne. Swap Heavy Skincare Products for Lighter Formulas
Heavy creams during the winter are excellent; however, they can make our skin appear oily and greasy in the Spring. As the weather gets warmer, you will want to switch to lighter formulas so your skin stays moisturized without being greasy, and your makeup applies smoothly. Humectants such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and glycerin are excellent ingredients in skincare that hydrate without being greasy.

Apply Sunscreen on the Face Properly
It is time to soak up the sunshine! Wearing sunscreen on the face helps prevent sun damage, especially in the Spring when we spend more time outdoors. Switch up your Makeup for Lighter Colors
Spring is all about fresh, dewy skin with a radiant finish. It is time to swap out your sultry winter lipsticks and eye shadows for lighter makeup. Applying lighter makeup shades can instantly boost your mood and brighten your look.
Face: Try an illuminating primer before your foundation to give your skin an instant glow and help your makeup last longer.
Eyes: The eyes are the window to the soul. Why not emphasize them with beautiful Spring eyeshadow colors? Shades such as gold, yellow, bronze, and pastel shades are a great way to brighten your look instantly.

Keeping your lips moisturized is essential, so you will want to use hydrating lip colors that last. These clean beauty lip colors work really well and make your lips soft and kissable. They have the prettiest shades. This one is my favorite.
Clean your Makeup Brushes Weekly
Spring cleaning should also include your makeup brushes. Keep your skin fresh and healthy by cleaning your makeup brushes regularly. Dirty makeup brushes accumulate bacteria and dead skin cells, which can clog pores leading to acne and breakouts. The last thing you want to do is spread bacteria all over the face.
Washing your makeup brushes weekly can make a significant difference in the health and beauty of your skin. If you have current breakouts, clean your makeup brushes more often than once a week until your skin balances out.
I like to use Dr. Bronners Castille soap mixed with warm water. Simple, natural, and effective. I never skip my weekly makeup brush washing. It keeps the pimples away.
Switch up your Hair Care Routine
Most of us get dry and dull hair during winter, so we use heavier products to moisturize it. Once Spring rolls around, our hair tends to have a lot of buildup from excess products and needs a detox. As a licensed cosmetologist, I am passionate about teaching people how to use high-performance natural beauty products and techniques without sacrificing quality.
First: Give your hair a thorough cleanse to freshen and brighten it. A clarifying shampoo like this one helps remove excess buildup, allowing moisture to penetrate the hair and making it softer, shinier, and more manageable. I love to use a clean beauty volumizing shampoo from my favorite non toxic haircare brand. It does a fantastic job of cleansing the hair without drying it out. Plus, it gives you a lot of volume. You can start practicing your hair flips now.
Second: Follow up with a moisturizing clean beauty conditioner like this one. You want to use a product that has effective ingredients that can penetrate your hair instead of sitting on top and weighing it down. This formula is made with nourishing ingredients that moisturize the hair well. A little goes a long way.
Third: Apply a clean beauty leave in hair product while your hair is still damp. You always want to apply a product that can help seal and lock in moisture to prevent damage.
Fourth: If your hair needs extra moisture, try a clean beauty hair mask. This mask brings life back to your hair without weighing it down. Nourishing ingredients like Rahua oil and She butter help to smooth hair and make it shiny. Use it two to three times monthly for the best results.

Beauty foods that naturally support detoxification: Turmeric, ginger, citrus, leafy greens, apples, beets, chlorella, spirulina, garlic, radishes, spring onion, asparagus, arugula, and dandelion.
Beauty herbs that naturally support detoxification: Dandelion root, milk thistle, licorice root, turmeric, burdock root, and stinging nettle.
Sun Protection from the Inside Out
Did you know certain foods can protect your skin from the inside out? Increasing your consumption of antioxidant-rich foods is an excellent way to ensure you get additional sun protection.
