Cooking can be a wonderful way to nourish our bodies with nutrient dense foods while creating a foundation for optimum wellness. However, the cookware we use can make a huge difference.
Did you know that conventional cookware such as nonstick pans, coated pots, Teflon, coated enamel that flakes off, and aluminum leech toxins into our food?
These toxins can have a negative effect on our health.

Every time we cook we are potentially increasing our toxin intake. Yikes! That's not what we want when creating healthy dishes that are meant to nourish our health.
I don’t know about you but I had no idea about any of this 10 years ago when I started trying my hand at eating healthy. You would think buying organic would be enough. Then to find out the cookware is contributing toxins in the body is quite shocking! Are you with me?
Its important to look at all areas of our lifestyle that could potentially contribute to the toxic load of our bodies. This helps our bodies to function better and to not accelerate the aging process.
Non stick cookware contains a manmade chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid which stays in the human body for a long time accumulating and in the air in your home. While aluminum cookware is highly reactive & leaches into food.
It has been shown that these toxins are linked to cancer, liver damage, infertility, delays in growth development, neurotoxicity, high cholesterol, Alzheimer’s, thyroid issues, Inflammation, weakened immune system, allergies, etc.
NONE OF THIS SOUNDS APPEALING TO ME SO I MADE THE SWITCH TO NON TOXIC COOKWARE TO PROTECT MY HEALTH
I am so passionate about this topic and wanted to shed some light in hopes of bringing up a conversation that isn’t readily available in the media and is often overlooked.
If this interests you I have some wonderful suggestions for healthy cookware alternatives
Pure Ceramic cookware (not ceramic coated) I use
I have their pans, pots, wok, and tea kettle.
They are what I use at home. They are high quality and worth the investment. Healthy Cooking for the win!
Cast iron cookware (properly seasoned)
Pure clay cookware
High quality stainless steel. The reason it should be high quality is it can leach nickel into your food if it is not high quality
Wooden cooking utensils (I love bamboo that is not coated)
Normal plastic cooking utensils leech micro plastics into food
Glass Tupperware for cooking & storing food in a healthy alternative to plastic
Instead or using aluminum foil when cooking try parchment paper or simply use a glass cooking dish. Aluminum has been linked to alzheimers and other neurological disorders
Being conscious of these types of things is wonderful because it gives us choices and room to make improvements over time. In doing so we reduce our toxin intake and encourage our bodies to function optimally
Cheers to healthy cooking
